Environmental Policy

1. Commitment to Environmental Responsibility

UK Fencing Ltd is committed to minimising the environmental impact of its operations, including the design, supply, and installation of fencing for commercial projects. We recognise our responsibility to protect the environment and comply with all relevant UK environmental legislation, including the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and associated regulations. Our goal is to promote sustainable practices while delivering high-quality fencing solutions.

2. Environmental Objectives

Our environmental objectives are to:

· Reduce waste generation and promote recycling and reuse of materials where possible.

· Source materials from sustainable and environmentally responsible suppliers.

· Minimise energy consumption and carbon emissions in our operations, including transport and on-site activities.

· Prevent pollution and protect local ecosystems during fencing installations.

· Continuously improve our environmental performance through regular reviews and adoption of best practices.

3. Responsibilities

· Senior Management: The Managing Director is responsible for ensuring the implementation of this policy, allocating resources, and fostering an environmentally conscious culture within the organisation.

· Environmental Coordinator: A designated Environmental Coordinator will oversee environmental compliance, conduct site assessments, and monitor performance against environmental objectives.

· Employees and Contractors: All staff and contractors are required to follow environmental procedures, report potential environmental risks, and contribute to sustainable practices.

4. Sustainable Practices

· Material Sourcing: We will prioritise timber and other materials certified by schemes such as the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) to ensure sustainable sourcing.

· Waste Management: Waste, including offcuts, packaging, and site debris, will be minimised, segregated, and disposed of responsibly in accordance with the Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011. Recycling will be prioritised where feasible.

· Energy Efficiency: Fuel-efficient vehicles and equipment will be used, and idling will be minimised to reduce carbon emissions. Site operations will aim to use low-energy tools where practical.

· Pollution Prevention: Measures will be taken to prevent soil, water, or air pollution, including proper storage and handling of hazardous substances (e.g., preservatives or fuels) in compliance with the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH).

· Biodiversity Protection: During site works, we will assess and mitigate impacts on local flora and fauna, ensuring compliance with the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

5. Training and Awareness

· All employees will receive training on environmental responsibilities, including waste management, pollution prevention, and sustainable practices.

· Regular toolbox talks will address site-specific environmental considerations.

· Contractors will be required to adhere to our environmental standards.

6. Monitoring and Compliance

· Regular environmental audits and site inspections will be conducted to ensure compliance with this policy and relevant legislation.

· Environmental incidents, such as spills or non-compliance, will be reported, investigated, and addressed promptly.

· Performance metrics, such as waste reduction and energy use, will be tracked and reviewed to drive continuous improvement.

7. Stakeholder Engagement

· We will engage with clients, suppliers, and local communities to promote environmental awareness and align with their sustainability goals.

· Feedback on our environmental performance will be welcomed and used to enhance our practices.

8. Review and Continuous Improvement

· This policy will be reviewed annually or following significant changes to operations or legislation to ensure its continued relevance and effectiveness.

· We will seek opportunities to adopt new technologies and practices that further reduce our environmental footprint.
